PocketProf ("we", "us") is an AI tutor available at askpocketprof.com and app.askpocketprof.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and who else sees it. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account details from Google. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and Google account ID. We never see your Google password.
- What you learn. The topics you enter, your answers to questions, the lessons generated for you, your messages to the tutor, and the notes the tutor keeps about what you know so it can personalise later lessons.
- Usage and billing records. Your credit balance, how many credits each action used, and your subscription and top-up history.
- Cookies. A session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a saved light/dark theme preference in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies.
- Analytics. We may use PostHog to understand how the product is used, such as which pages are visited. It is configured to build profiles only for signed-in users.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, generate lessons, grade your answers and remember your progress.
- To charge for and account for credits.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your learning content to show you ads.
Who else processes your data
- Google handles sign-in.
- AI model providers. To generate lessons, your topics, answers and messages are sent to large language models through OpenRouter and the model provider it routes to. Do not enter anything you would not want processed this way.
- Web search. When the tutor researches a topic it sends search queries derived from your topic to a web search service (Exa).
- Dodo Payments processes payments. Your card details go to Dodo, not to us; we receive confirmation of the payment and a customer reference. Dodo also receives your name and email address.
- PostHog provides analytics, if enabled. For signed-in users this may include your email address.
- Hosting. The service runs on a virtual private server, and Cloudflare handles DNS and traffic for our domain.
- Wikimedia Commons. Some lessons include images that your browser loads directly from Wikimedia.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and learning data while your account exists. You can delete individual sessions in the app. To delete your whole account and its data, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with. Payment records may be kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we will honour them.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, and access to the server and database is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
PocketProf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users.
Google user data
PocketProf receives your name, email address and Google account ID when you sign in with Google. We use them only to sign you in, and identify your account. Your email is also shared with Dodo Payments for billing and, if enabled, PostHog for analytics, as described above. We do not use it for advertising or sell it.
PocketProf's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
